The Spirit Rising Series is aimed toward a market that may not necessarily be familiar with the latest and the greatest in gospel. We have a great opportunity to be in the gospel industry and make an impact. One thing we feel is that the Jesus Christ we know wouldnt necessarily be in the suburbs, but would be hanging out with the guys living in the streets, in the clubs, and with the youth. He was about the people. Spirit Rising Music is music for the people, says Knowles of his newly re-launched and revitalized inspirational label. In a dual-disc release August 2006, Volumes I & II come out of the gate strong. From the traditional feel of Volume I to the contemporary edge of Volume II the Gospel is healing, vibrant and alive.Â
Spirit Rising: Volume 1 embraces the musical history of gospel in a traditional set that features a diverse menu from Mahalia Jacksons familiar live recording of How I Got Over to the Mighty Clouds of Joys classic Ive Been In the Storm Too Long. Ministry stalwarts Bishop T.D. Jakes, Bishop Andrew Merritt with the Straight Gate Mass Choir, and Bishop Clarence E. McClendon give nod to the new millennium churchs impact on the music industry. Houstons own Nikki Ross comes out of the background as Spirit Rising Music presents her and her legendary vocal prowess. Ross has been a noted choir soloist and session singer for years and her melodic ballad Peace showcases exactly why.  No stranger to gospel, Kelly Price rounds out the traditional disc with I Know Who Holds Tomorrow. Volume I packs a powerfully charged punch that sets the stage for the future.
Volume IIs contemporary flavor features the hottest gospel acts with the same powerful word.  Knowles says this best exemplifies the mission of Spirit Rising Music and its place in the gospel music marketplace, The more contemporary sound is to reach the masses - especially our youth! I believe when you target the youth you have to give them the same sound they hear on the radio. Its the message that has to be different. It is our goal to give them great music, great tracks that they can move and bounce to, but with a great Christian message.
Delivering that message coupled with the industrys best in production and sound are Rhythm and Praise innovators Dawkins & Dawkins with Dance, sister duo Mary Mary with  Somebody and the harmonic blend of Men of Standard on He Cares.  PAJAM presents girl-group Ramiyah and the smooth acoustic sounds of Tommy Sims featuring Marvin Winans whets the neo-soul appetite.  The diaspora of contemporary offerings is topped off with Michelle Williams rendering of Do You Know (Live in Atlanta).  Williams solo stint from Destinys Child was a catalyst for the series shares Knowles, Michelle came from a gospel background and very early on we determined that shed do a gospel project. That along with the fact that spirituality is a very important part of my life fueled our commitment to doing this series. I wanted to grow the gospel label and having a compilation was way to do that by sharing all that is great in gospel and by giving our new artists an opportunity to be seen and heard.
Leading out with Volumes I & II The Spirit Rising Series touches another area of the multi-media spectrum with a DVD component that heightens the Spirit Rising experience.   The sensory awakening combination of two-volumes of gospel musics best traditional and contemporary, new and old, - along with audio & visual presentations convey the thought provoking heights that Spirit Rising brings the industry. Leaving no stone unturned, the series goes into the highways and byways. Through its musical media mechanisms Spirit Rising Music proclaims the Gospel of Christ in a broad-reaching more palatable way and claims a whole new generation of music listeners. Spirit Rising Music - an inspirational sound thats not just for Sundays!
